A day in the life of a Worthing care home resident

Worthing care home

Country Lodge is a Worthing Care Home with a difference. Our ethos is to ensure that each resident feels at home and finds the level of independence, companionship, and comfort they desire.

No two days are ever the same at Country Lodge; our experienced team work hard to provide varied activities and outings that can be suited to each of the residents.

One resident had this to say: “It’s a good idea to get people out in the fresh air and there was good coffee and range of cakes.”

Although we strive to provide residents with a rich and varied program of activities, we also recognise the importance of maintaining a routine with mealtimes.

0830 – 0930 – Breakfast is served in residents’ bedrooms

Breakfast at Country Lodge isn’t a boring affair, our chefs cook up whatever the residents ask for, whether that be a cooked full English, or continental.

1000 – The mini bus departs

Our residents have the choice whether or not to go on our outings, but we always ensure the option is there and try to encourage their participation. This particular trip was to Haskins Garden Centre, the mini bus departed at approximately 10 am and residents had the chance to browse and purchase goods before a sit down with a lovely cup of coffee and some cake.

1300-1400 – It’s that time again

For lunch on this particular day, the choice was Braised Lamb Shank or Asparagus Risotto, followed by apple pie, a great favourite with our residents.

1400 – 1500 – It’s Quiz time!

A popular activity, especially with Betty, and this is where the competitiveness comes out. It’s quite a challenge with our Dolores asking the questions in her lovely Irish brogue!

1500 – 1800 – Visitors arrive

Family and friends are allowed to visit at any time of the day, However after 3pm seems to be most popular as at 4pm  the tea trolley with delicious cakes arrives, all cooked at Country Lodge by our chefs for the residents and their friends and family to enjoy!

This is just an example of one day at Country Lodge, other entertainment happens throughout the week, which can include local musicians and theatrical performances. Our experienced carers understand the need for downtime which is why we have various seating areas, outside spaces and of course the residents have their own bedrooms.
