At our comfortable, homely Worthing care home, we have a fantastic team of friendly, skilled staff who all work extremely hard to ensure Country Lodge residents and their families can relax and enjoy the care home to its fullest extent.
Taking the time to fully understand the individual needs of each resident and what makes them feel happy and safe is an essential step to ensure each resident flourishes at Country Lodge.
In this blog you will get know some of the people behind our Worthing care home:
Claire & John
The owners and driving force behind Country Lodge care home in Worthing! The couple have been running this care home for over 15 years now and their hard work is reflected in the relaxed, comfortable, ‘home from home’ environment that is Country Lodge.
Both have a background in ‘people’ businesses. Claire had a catering business in London and takes a keen interest in the catering in the care home making sure all the meals are of the highest standard, home cooked and nutritious as well as tasting wonderful. John was a banker who travelled widely and mixes well with anyone no matter what background or nationality – he also makes sure the care home is run efficiently and cost effectively.
They are both keen that residents should feel that this is their home and every room is furnished to a high standard but still ‘homely’. Visitors to our Worthing care home are made very welcome. Treating care home residents with kindness, respect and dignity is paramount. Both are family minded so children and dogs are also welcomed here.
What would we do without you Debbie? The eyes and ears of Country Lodge and a highly experienced nurse, she keeps a close watch on the care of each resident. As Manager she is responsible for keeping the team in line with a firm but fair guiding hand and helping us to achieve a full complement of green ticks for each of the key standards of care and management under our Quality and Risk Profile. Debbie has worked for Country Lodge for 20 years now and is ably assisted by her Deputy Manager, Katie.
Wendy is our go-to organiser and is exceptional at keeping the admin under control. She’s been working for Country Lodge for over 5 years and makes sure everything is in check. As a close family friend of Claire and John she totally supports the ethos of care and compassion at Country Lodge that they promote.
‘What’s important is that the residents don’t feel like this is their life coming to an end here, but instead is just a continuation of the best possible circumstances.’ – Wendy
Chris the Head Chef
Fresh, healthy and hearty homemade meals are very important to us at Country Lodge, and our head chef Chris never disappoints. He brings new and exciting dishes to the menu as well as our residents’ favourites. He and his assistant Pauline are also in charge of baking up the brilliant array of fresh cakes our residents and their families get to try every day. Chris has been a chef for many years now, and you can certainly tell!
Nurses and Carers
In addition to Debbie and Katie, we have 4 trained nurses, Gheorghe, Angela, Heather and Rose, all living very close to the care home.
We also have 3 senior carers, Andrea, Jane and Dolores who supervise the carers. Dolores is our activities organiser and she runs a regular quiz or crossword activity which is greatly appreciated by residents and visitors not least because Dolores makes it great fun with her broad Irish accent. Her activity days are always full of laughter.
Paula, our talented Gardener and Roger our Maintenance Manager
We wouldn’t be able to keep our grounds as beautiful as they are without our Gardener, Paula. It seems to be ever-changing and looks particularly great in Springtime. The hard work Paula does makes the garden a perfect location for our Worthing care home residents to sit and relax whilst enjoying the views, or to take a short stroll in the afternoon.
And we would be lost without Paula’s father our Mr Fixit, Roger, who can fix anything from a scrape on the wall to a motor. Roger is very popular with our care home residents because of his friendly chatty manner and willingness to help
This is just a small selection of the staff who work at Country Lodge care home in Worthing. There is always at least one trained Nurse on duty 24 hours a day, together with the other staff on site. At Country Lodge, privacy, dignity, rights and choices are part of everyday life and we endeavour to enable our residents to remain as independent as possible.
