When searching for care homes in Worthing, you want to be sure that you are sending your loved one to a care home that considers the little things in life. At Country Lodge, we make our residents feel special all year round, whether that’s on their birthday with a fabulous homemade cake or during one of care home family events.
Christmas is no exception and gives us a great excuse to spoil our residents even more than usual, with plenty of festive fun to be enjoyed by the residents and their families.
In this article, we outline some of our favourite Christmas traditions at Country Lodge that we hope other care homes in Worthing also get on board with.
December is packed full of Christmas event to keep the residents busy, we’ve already enjoyed some of the following:
- Strictly High Salvington Tea Dance – many of our residents love watching Strictly Come Dancing, so we bought the ballroom to Country Lodge with the added bonus of a wonderful afternoon tea prepared by head chef, Chris, and his team. You can read more about our tea dance in this blog post here.
- Christmas shopping – our residents love heading out to the local garden centre to do some of their Christmas shopping, and it’s turned into quite a tradition at Country Lodge.
- Annual Punch and Carols event – a great event that we all look forward to at Country Lodge, the local vicar arrives, and we spend the evening singing carols, drinking mulled wine and listening to some wonderful performances. We then provide both residents and their friends and families with a finger buffet which goes down very well.
The big day itself
As you’d expect, Christmas Day is full of amazing food, crackers, and cheesy jokes. Many of our resident’s families come and join the festivities to enjoy the turkey dinner with all the traditional trimmings and they certainly don’t leave hungry. The residents are certainly not short or being spoilt as there are plenty of presents to go around too.
Our residents don’t stop the festivities on the 26th, the care home is always full of laughter and plenty of music after Christmas day, with the resident’s families visiting and enjoying some home cooked food.
Boxing day is another busy day with more food and plenty of entertainment organised by our team, usually including a quiz or two.
