Local Worthing artist Brenda Brooks has donated one of her signature sea paintings to help raise money for survivors of the Nepal earthquake. The painting ‘Visibility Good’ will be auctioned during the annual Garden Party on 4th July.  Brenda recently exhibited her work at the Country Lodge Art Exhibition in March.

Brenda’s great grandfather was an art dealer for both Christies and Sotherbys but she ran her own business for many years and has had no formal art training. She takes her inspiration from what she sees. Her house on West Parade faces out to sea so the sea and beaches feature a lot in her work.  “I did try painting flowers,” she said “but people seem to love my beach scenes. The staff at Country Lodge were so friendly during the Art Exhibition and several of them are from Nepal – it must be very hard for them being so far away when something terrible like this happens so I hope the sale of my painting will go towards helping their families over there.”

All the proceeds from the raffle this year will be sent to the fund for medical supplies being raised by the local Nepalese community here in Worthing.

Brenda’s work can be seen by appointment at her studio on West Parade, Worthing telephone 01903 248561.
